ALL the hard training efforts have paid off for the 13 Wangaratta Cycling Club members who competed in the 2013 Tour of Bright last weekend during three days of picture perfect conditions.
The challenge of this tour sees riders from all parts of Australia descend on Bright for the annual test of time trialling and climbing prowess.
The Alpine Cycling Club and Cycling Victoria were pleased with the 686 riders on the start list, making it arguably the largest graded cycling race in the southern hemisphere.
The three-stage event saw the stage one individual time trial conducted on a new 13.5km closed road between Bright and Porepunkah on the Friday afternoon.
Saturday’s stage two road race was run on the usual 90km Bright, Rosewhite Gap, Tawonga Gap course with an extra 40km added on to Bogong for the A grade men.
Sunday’s stage three 52km climb from Bright to the top of Mt Hotham certainly stretched all competitors to the limits.
